Brody is an experienced and qualified Occupational Therapist having worked in the private and Government sector for over 14 years. After graduating from James Cook University, he developed skills from a range of industries including, mental health, rehabilitation and generalist skills from a number of hospitals in metropolitan and rural locations. Brody draws on extensive clinical knowledge and resources to enhance the wellbeing of those he treats in a holistic manner.
Brody has developed specialised skills in the area of lymphoedema-vascular and has completed the Australian Lymphology Association lymphoedema endorsed course which has been further complemented by his training in wound management. Brody has also completed a range of courses through the Australian Hand Therapy Association, giving him the skills and knowledge to treat a range of common hand conditions. Brody's diverse range of skills, knowledge and experience enables him to work across the lifespan of an individual.
After years of clinical experience, knowledge and research, Brody established Embrace Balance Allied Health and is proud to be offering a holistic approach to your care needs. Brody is excited about the future of EBAH and approaches new opportunities with high levels of enthusiasm and professionalism.
Laura is an Accredited Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers. She graduated with first class honors in her Social Work degree from Central Queensland University. Laura has been working and supporting adults and adolescents within the NDIS since its roll out in Queensland and has a thorough understanding of the NDIS system. Laura has further experience working within hospital settings and within the field of child safety. She has worked with a wide range of highly vulnerable individuals and families. Laura has the proven ability working with those with complex needs.
Laura values social justice and respect for people and works from a person-centered and strengths focused view to empower people to achieve their individual goals. She believes in the autonomy and self-determination of all individuals and strives to minimise the effects of the oppression and power imbalances.
Laura recognises the importance of a community and believes in being connected emotionally and physically to a supportive community. She works collaboratively with stakeholders, community organisations and other allied health professionals to provide each person with a supportive team and community.
Laura prides herself on a friendly, open and honest approach creating a strong therapeutic alliance with the client. Laura provides a focus on mental health using focused psychological strategies tailored to the client’s needs and choices while working with the individual to develop skills to address everyday challenges. She draws from evidence-based practice approaches, such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, motivational interviewing and Solution Focused Therapy to assist them to achieve and sustain their desired goals.
Blake is an Occupational therapist with a goal to help increase the independence and improve the quality of life of every individual he works with, by building on strengths and eliminating barriers. Blake completed his occupational therapy degree at Auckland university of technology in New Zealand.
Blake has a wide range of experience, including forensic mental health, stroke rehabilitation, and aged care. Working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team using a holistic and client centered, he has seen individuals overcome their barriers and achieve their goals.
Blake has a particular interest in cognitive rehabilitation, retraining the brain by utilising neuroplasticity- the brains ability to form and recreate synaptic connections following illness or injury. He also has interest in home modifications, adapting the environment to increase the independence of people with disabilities.
If Blake is not at work, he enjoys spending his spare time at the beach surfing, or getting a coffee at a local café.
Wendy has an extensive history in medical administration and is the voice of EBAH.
Wendy is most definity the glue of EBAH and her organisational skills are next to none.
Evie is our therapy dog in training and overlooks everyone's wellbeing when they come into our clinic. She is quirky, funny and affectionate. She will give you space when you need it, make you laugh when required or request pats and sit next to you when you feel down.
Evie loves to chase a ball and is the first to greet anyone when they visit the clinic.
